Hi, my name is Molly, and I’m a writer, adventurer, and mom of two girls. I started this blog back in 2010 to chronicle my second pregnancy and my fight with Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)a debilitating and life-threatening form of nausea and vomiting that some pregnant women suffer from.
This blog has grown so much from those humble beginnings. Here’s our family in a nutshell:
I met the Grasshoppers’ dad shortly after I graduated from high school. We started out as friends, but eventually he got up the nerve to ask me out on an actual date, and the rest is history.
It’s been a crazy adventure with this guy. He’s from South America, and it’s been fun learning how to mesh our two cultures. We both love to travel, and we’ve been to some incredible places.
In 2007, we had our first daughter. We had even more adventures together (we even took her to Japan!), and her bouncy personality earned her the nickname Grasshopper. She loves horses and tigers and sharks. She’s always got a book in her hand, and if you challenge her to a game of Pokemon TCG (The Card Game), you’d better be prepared to bring your best game! He favorite food is alfredo pasta and she can eat an entire adult-sized chimichanga. Don’t ask me where she puts it. I have no idea. Those chimichangas are bigger than her head!
In 2010, we decided to have another baby. It was a rough journey, and I survived HG by the skin of my teeth to bring our youngest daughter into the world. She’s more of a Noisy Cricket than a grasshopper (points if you get the reference), and she keeps us all on our toes! She loves playing games and making people laugh. You never know what she’s going to do next. She’s always pushing her limits. She loves singing, dancing, and helping in the garden. Her favorite books are Elephant and Piggie and Little House and if left to her own devices she will eat an entire carton of blueberries. She also loves pickled okra and fried rice. She’s definitely a child with diverse tastes.
We don’t travel as far anymore. These days, we keep our adventures closer to home and enjoy exploring all the local sights and fun around our current hometown of St. Louis. I divide my time between work and home. I work part time doing outreach for Monsanto (obviously, all opinions in this blog are mine and mine alone), and I work the rest of the time as a stay at home mom. I’ve got the best of both worlds! I get to keep working at a job I love, and I am there every morning when the school bus leaves and every afternoon when it comes back. I am truly blessed.
Oh, and there’s something else you should know. I’m kind of, enormously geeky. So if you ever want to talk Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, or science fiction/fantasy books, you just look me up. Also, I write science fiction and fantasy – mostly short stories. I’m still working on producing something worthy of publication (I’m following the traditional publishing path), so I’m happy to talk writing, too!
